How do you determine which energy supplements you will take to build your health?
* Are you an informed consumer
* Do you base your decisions strictly on the price tag?
* Are you assuming that all the
supplements in the store are the same?
* Do you look at the labels and wonder whether the ingredients are natural or are
synthetic?
* Do you know which is which and whether synthetic ones are able to be absorbed by your body or will have a
detrimental effect on your health?
* Do you know the FDA rules for what can be labeled “natural”?
What about the amount of vitamins in the product we chose?
We know that the amounts listed on the label as “% daily
value” or mimimum daily requirements (MDR) are the amounts the government decided would be the minimum necessary to prevent the
onset of deficiency disease in a healthy adult. This does not mean that it is enough to prevent a deficiency that would affect
your health in other ways, nor is it the optimal amount for good health, or enough of that nutrient to help recover from poor
health.
Have you looked into the new research that has been done on vitamins and minerals?
Independent clinical studies that
are not financed by the company’s marketing those supplements?
There is one company whose multi-vitamin, multimineral supplements have been supported by 12 clinical studies as well as a
recent independent comparison study of long time supplement users, both of this company’s supplements and long time users
of other brands of supplements and those who used none or very few. This remarkable study showed that the long term users of this
brand of supplements maintained normal levels of the markers for good health:
* Blood pressure
* HDL cholesterole
* Triglyceridese
* C-reactive proteine
* Homocysteine
They also had remarkably better health than the others in the study.
